Travel to The Rhone

Given the wide range of travel options, our standard package prices do not include travel. The principle options are as follows:

Self-drive

Lyon is located around 7 hours’ drive from Calais and therefore this travel method would be suitable for longer trips of perhaps a week or more that combine other regions such as Champagne or Burgundy. Avignon, the capital of the Southern Rhone is another 2 ¼ hours’ drive from Lyon and again, driving would be more suitable for those enjoying a longer trip. Grape Escapes can book your Eurotunnel or ferry crossings if required.

Rhone Credits Eurostar

We were absolutely delighted with the entire experience; expectations exceeded continually, all four of us commented that we cannot imagine how any aspect could have been bettered (and we are not easily impressed)!

Eurostar (and onward French rail)

Direct trains to Lyon Part Dieu connect from Lille, Paris and Marne la Vallee, giving a total journey time of 5 ½ to 5 ¾  hours from London. Ticket prices in Standard Class start at £109 per person. Ticket prices for Avignon start at £119 per person and the journey time from London via Paris or Lille is around 6 to 6 ½  hours. Between July and September, there is one direct train every Saturday from London.

Fly

For flights to Lyon Saint Expury, direct flights are possible from several British airports. Avignon is less well-served by direct flights, however Marseille would be suitable for those looking to visit the Southern Rhone and is well served from the UK.

Grape Escapes is ATOL registered, number 10831 and we would be happy to book your flights at cost, however a booking fee applies.
