Contact UsThis fabulous five day Rioja and San Sebastián break offers an in-depth and comprehensive discovery of the world-famous wines of Rioja, followed by a delicious immersion in the renowned Basque gastronomy. Good food, good wines and sunny beaches, what more could you wish for?
After a welcome dinner in your hotel’s restaurant and a relaxing evening, an English-speaking specialist guide will pick you up after breakfast on day two and accompany you throughout the day. Our Spanish Tour Manager was born and bred in the region and not only will she entertain you throughout the day with fascinating historical and cultural anecdotes, she will also share with you her extensive wine knowledge. You will be taken to two wineries for tours and tastings including a visit of a small producer where you will have the opportunity to taste directly from the barrel. You will then have time to participate in the traditional tapas run. Please note that the Tapas will be payable locally. You will also enjoy a tasting session of three premium Rioja wines. At the first estate, guests will marvel at the centuries-old cellars and enjoy a private wine tasting session, whereas the second winery is more modern, offering a complete contrast. At the end of the day your guide will drop you back to your hotel.
After a refreshing sleep and a leisurely breakfast, check out of the hotel. You will be transferred to your hotel in San Sebastián. Check into your room at your chosen hotel and enjoy a free afternoon and evening to do as you please. You may wish to relax at the hotel. Alternatively, you may prefer to explore San Sebastián independently or take a dip in the deep blue sea.
In your travel pack will be a comprehensive list of recommended restaurants. We would be very pleased to reserve a table for you at any of these for dinner.
On day four, you will meet a specialist local guide for a 2.5 hour pintxos and wine tour as part of a small group. You will be taken on a stroll to discover the city’s best pintxos bars in the old town and learn the fascinating history of the region’s complex and unique cuisine. You will taste some of the best pintxos of the city paired with delicious Spanish wines in some renowned local establishments. After such an enlightening tour, you will have a free afternoon to relax and enjoy your lovely surroundings.
To end your stay in true style, a superb gourmet tasting dinner with drinks will be served in one of the city’s Michelin starred restaurant.
