Trip Summary

Paris wine tourThis package is ideal for those who wish to stay in the iconic city of love and lights, and discover the delights of Champagne. The French capital city is an endless source of wonder, with its endless amazing sights such as the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, le Louvre, Notre Dame de Paris and the Sacré Coeur in Montmartre amongst many others. Paris is also a gastronomical hub, where you can expect to find some of the best traditional French dishes and experience the true flavours of the country. A trip to France would not be complete without a few glasses of Champagne, and as part of this package, you will have the opportunity to take a day trip to the Champagne region to discover the secrets of the world’s favourite tipple.

Upon arrival in Paris and after settling in at your preferred hotel, you enjoy a discovery cruise, which will take you on an hour-long guided tour of Paris, passing the iconic Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Notre Dame de Paris. A glass of Champagne will be served on board.

On day two, we will arrange for travel from Paris Est by high-speed train to the Champagne region, and you will be met at the station by an English-speaking specialist driver/guide, who will accompany you throughout the day. There will be a maximum of eight guests on the tour. champagne-weekends-shutterstock_282775499En route to the Champagne vineyards, your guide will regale you with tales and anecdotes of the history of Champagne and its vineyards, introducing you to the particularities of the region. You will stop in a vineyard to learn about the work undertaken here and the tour is designed to be as hands-on as possible. Here, your guide will explain the grape varieties permitted in Champagne and the yearly cycle of the work carried out in the vineyards.

You will then firstly visit a small, family-run producer of Champagnes for a full tour of the fascinating Champagne making process from press to bottle, and at least three tastings. A lunch with a glass of wine, water and coffee will then be served in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, your guide will take you to another family-run estate, situated in another of the principle regions of Champagne. After a tour of the House, you will taste Champagnes in contrasting style to those tasted during the morning. Ending the day in style, you will then visit your favourite large, prestigious Champagne House for a tour and tastings. Options include Moët and Chandon to taste two vintage Champagnes, Taittinger, where two Champagnes will be served, GH Mumm to taste their Blanc de Blancs and Blancs de Noirs Champagnes, Pommery to sample two Champagnes, Ruinart to taste Ruinart Blanc de Blancs or Ruinart rosé followed by their flagship Prestige Cuvée Dom Ruinart, white or rosé and Veuve Clicquot, to enjoy a flute of their celebrated La Grande Dame. Your guide will take you back to the train station following the tour.AAK_8560 large Copyright CDR Paris Ile-de-France

For those staying an additional night, day three offers you the opportunity to further explore the delights of Paris. We have included an open-top City tour bus pass in this package, which means that you are able to hop on and off of the bus as often as you would like- the easiest and most enjoyable method of exploring the city. Multi-lingual commentaries assist in your discovery of Paris, and with four different routes, no area of Paris will be left undiscovered! In the late afternoon, we will arrange a tasting session of four wines paired with four cheeses in a local wine tasting boutique.

In the evening, end your trip in style with the unique opportunity to dine in one pf the most historic monuments of Paris – the Eiffel Tower! First floor access is included, and after a Champagne aperitif, you will enjoy a three course dinner, accompanied by a 1/3 bottle of wine, water and coffee per person. As you dine, you’ll have spectacular views across the city, as the sun starts to set!
