Grape Escapes is a specialist European wine tour operator, offering a broad range of wine tasting tours and trips to the vineyards in the main French wine regions: Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy, The Rhône and The Loire and selected regions in Spain and Italy.
For the superlative experience, we offer a maximum of twelve very fortunate guests the opportunity to visit some of the world’s top wineries. These would typically include the most exclusive Champagne Houses and classed growth châteaux who do not usually receive visitors. Accommodation is generally in one of the best hotels in the region, for example you would be staying at the Regent Grand Hotel as part of the Bordeaux Superlative tour, and the tour will include unrivalled dining experiences at selected wineries and at multiple Michelin-starred restaurants.
Arriving in your chosen region on day one at a time of your preference, the remainder of the day would be spent acquainting yourself with your surroundings. You would then enjoy a welcome dinner at a premium city-centre restaurant, for example La Tupina in Bordeaux. Both lunch and dinner on each day of your trip would be catered for, and this would take the form of a gourmet lunch or dinner at a prestigious winery or restaurant for lunch or dinner and a lighter meal in the afternoon or evening, depending on whether the gourmet meal that day would be lunch or dinner.
Every day of tours would be transported in a luxury vehicle, and you would be accompanied by a Grape Escapes Tour Director, who would enrich your knowledge of the region and wines as well as ensure that the tour runs impressively smoothly.
On the Bordeaux Superlative tour, day two would take place in and around the Médoc. You would firstly start the tour in true style with a visit to one of the three First Growth Châteaux in Pauillac; Château Lafite, Château Latour or Château Mouton Rothschild. A gourmet lunch would then be served at a Super Second estate in St Julien, where you would be able to taste a selection of this subregion’s wine. After lunch, you would visit a second Premier Cru estate for a tour of the Château tastings of their world-famous wines. After dinner, the evening would be free for you to do as you please.
Day three would take you firstly to Graves, where you would spend the morning tasting the esteemed wines of Château Haut-Brion and la Mission Haut-Brion. You would then have lunch as the guests of a Cru Classé estate such as Château Smith-Haut-Lafitte or Château Pape Clément. The day would conclude with a visit to a top performing producer of sweet wines in Sauternes, for example Château Climens or Château Yquem.
No tour of Bordeaux would be complete without visiting the Right Bank appellation, and day four would begin with a tour and tastings as the guests of the famed Château Cheval Blanc. A gourmet lunch would then be served at a Cru Classé estate in St Emilion, before a final visit to a top performing Château in Pomerol, for example L’Eglise-Clinet.
Our superlative tours are typically between three and five nights in duration and cost between £1,995 and £2,995 per person.
Due to agreements with the individual Champagne Houses and wineries, we are unable to widely publicise details of these tours and include them in our general brochure; however if you would like to receive more information about these trips as they are finalised then please contact us on 08456 430 860 (+44 1763 273 373 from outside the UK) or e-mail superlative@grapeescapes.net.
