Wine Tour Hotels in the Rhône
There are many hotels in the Rhône region, in and around Avignon, and we can provide accommodation in any of them. However, for our Flexible Southern Rhône Wine Tasting Weekends, we are offering a choice of 2 grades of accommodation in 2 hotels:
The Mercure Pont d'Avignon and
The Cloître Saint Louis.
For our Rhône by Rail Package, accommodation is offered in 3 hotels with an upgrade option:
- Upper 2* hotel in Vienne city centre
- Hôtel la Pyramide (upgraded)
- Hôtel les Amandiers
- The Cloître Saint Louis
Superior Grade - Mercure Pont D’Avignon
The 3* hotel is situated within the peaceful, old area of Avignon, which allows easy access to the amenities of the city. It is close to the Palace des Papes and the Pont D’Avignon. The hotel is welcoming and friendly. For those who wish to relax after a hard days sightseeing or wine tasting, the hotel has a small bar and a private garden where you can unwind. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with all the usual amenities.
Superior Grade – Hôtel les Amandiers
The welcoming a friendly atmosphere at Hotel les Amandiers, combined with its exceptional location make it an excellent base whilst touring the vineyards. Located in Tournon-sur-Rhône, on the other side of the river to the famous town of Tain-L’Hermitage, the views of the Hermitage vineyards and la Chapelle are superb.
If the weather is nice, a buffet breakfast can be taken on the terrace in the hotel’s garden, and there is a comfortable sofa with a flat-screen TV if you would like to relax in the reception area. For those who do not have a laptop but would like to check their e-mails, a computer is also at your disposal free of charge.
Each sound-proofed room has recently been renovated and is decorated in warm, welcoming colours, with a spacious bed, WIFI access, satellite TV and a telephone.
Luxury Grade - Cloître Saint Louis
The 16th Century Cloître Saint Louis is the ideal start to experiencing the rich history of Avignon. The accommodation in this 4* hotel is comprised of the 16th century building and a modern wing built in tribute to renowned architect Jean Nouvel. From the 300 year old trees patterning the Cloister to the restaurant nestled beneath a vaulted ceiling, this hotel takes full advantage of the stunning architecture and celebrated history from which it hails.
Just five minutes walk from Avignon’s most iconic monuments, the Palais des Papes and the Pont d’Avignon, the Cloître Saint Louis is ideally located for exploring Avignon’s picturesque UNESCO listed city centre. As well as historical landmarks, the city also houses fashionable boutiques and traditional French markets.
The skilled renovation of Hotel Cloître Saint Louis has resulted in modern facilities set against an ancient backdrop. The restaurant serves elegant French cuisine in a breathtaking location. To enjoy the views or bask in Provence’s typical hot sun there is a terrace, a solarium and an outdoor swimming pool. A charming unique feature is the hotel’s chapel.
There are three Grades of accommodation available at the Cloître Saint Louis and guests will be accommodated in the larger, superior rooms. All rooms are spacious and modern in decor with views over the Hotel’s private gardens and a bath / shower, A/C, flat screen satellite TV, telephone and a mini-bar.
Luxury Grade – Hôtel la Pyramide
The Relais and Château Hotel la Pyramide is a modern-styled, luxurious property, located in a quiet part of the city. Boasting a double Michelin-starred restaurant, the hotel’s owners, Pascale and Patrick Henriroux guarantee a sumptuous and pleasant stay in their 4* property.
Guests can relax in the stunning French gardens or enjoy an aperitif on the terraces, where breakfast is also served during the summer. During the winter, a chimney warms the lounge and breakfast room. Patrick also invites you to visit the hotel’s charming boutique, where you will find a vast selection spices, cakes, wines and luxury cooking utensils.
The spacious and impeccable rooms each have a bath and a separate toilet, direct-dial telephone, flat-screen TV with cable, air-conditioning and WIFI.
