"Our trip to Bordeaux was undoubtedly the best trip we've had for years - excellent wines, excellent food and thoroughly good fun"

LOIRE - THE WINES

The Loire - Wines

The Loire region produces such a diversity of wines that there is certain to be a wine to suit most drinkers.

Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc

The Loire valley offers a broader range of wines than any other small wine growing region. It is the home of Chenin Blanc, the only region in the world to specialise in cabernet franc and also makes superb botrytised dessert wines.

Wine Styles

White, rosé and red, still and sparkling, dry and sweet. Wines of all these styles are made within 20 miles of Tours. The white wines in the central Loire are generally produced from the Chenin Blanc grape, (albeit in four distinctly different styles of wine: dry, semi sweet, sweet and sparkling), while the red wines are usually dominated by the Cabernet Franc grapes.
