Le Cep Beaune

Le Cep Hotel is a member of the “Small Luxury Hotels of the World” group, and provides a warm welcome, with services worthy of its exceptional heritage. It started out as a private home in the sixteenth century, and was richly furnished in the traditional style by an antiques collector in 1966 for guests who appreciated fine things. He wanted to preserve the hotel’s excellent heritage, but at the same time make his guests comfortable. The historical building was therefore transformed, enlarged and adapted.

It was a private home in the sixteenth century, but through time and neglect, fell into increasing disrepair. Luckily, the English World Cup team were not the only winners in 1966, and salvation came for this once splendid mansion in the form of an antiques collector who saved it from complete ruin. He renovated and furnished it opulently whilst maintaining the traditional style to make it an outstanding memorial to its historical providence. The hotel is located in the absolute heart of historic Beaune, almost opposite the famous Hospice. Also within a few minute’s walking distance is the Musée de Vin and the beautiful Collégiale Notre-Dame.

One of the most unique features of the hotel is its panoramic view, which can be seen by taking a glass elevator or a small staircase in the tower. The hotel also boasts formal garden, statues and intimate interior courtyards. Although modern comforts have not been neglected, the newest parts of the hotel have been designed to match the antique furniture, woodwork and coffered ceilings of the hotel’s original style. The hotel’s gastronomic restaurant is owned by Bernard Loiseau and boasts an incredible 70 wines sold by the glass.

The hotel boasts 57 individually-decorated rooms and suites and each room is named after a famous Burgundy wine. The superior rooms are located in the heart of the mansion and date back to the 14th and 15th Centuries and the elegant Deluxe rooms are equipped with King-sized beds, rich fabrics and antique furniture. If you would like to treat yourself, sleep in style in one of the 16 sumptuously decorated and spacious suites.
