The Two Night Southern Rhône Taster Weekend
The Grape Escapes Rhône wine tasting tour includes two nights’ accommodation at the Cloître Saint Louis in Avignon, a four course dinner, a tutored tasting session of three Northern Rhône wines at the Palais des Papes, entry to both the Pont d’Avignon and the Palais des Papes plus a full day tour around Gigondas, the Dentelles and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Gigondas
You will be met at your hotel by our tour guide and will be transported in a luxury mini coach to the village of Gigondas. Here you will visit one of the larger wineries in the appellation. The tour of the domain will start in the vineyards and pass through the winery and caveau before finishing with tastings of a number of their wines from Gigondas.
Lunch
After this visit, the day will continue with a gourmet 4 course lunch at a restaurant in the centre of the village. The lunch includes wines with the meal as well as water and coffee to conclude.
Dentelles
The tour then continues in another of the premium villages around the Dentelles (often Rasteau or Seguret). Here we will visit a smaller, family run domain. Again the winery offers an excellent tour, enjoyable tastings and spectacular views across the vineyards and rugged hills of this part of Provence.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
The day will conclude in the appellation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. You will start by looking at the unusual terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape that is responsible for the ultra ripe grapes that come from its vines. You will then visit their cuverie to understand their wine making philosophy before tasting a range of their award winning wines.

The price of this trip is depends on when you would like to travel and is based on 2 people sharing a twin or double Superior room. The prices below are per person and include 2 nights’ bed and breakfast, a full day guided tour with lunch, a 4 course dinner, entry to the Palais des Papes and the Pont d’Avignon and a tasting session of 3 wines.

Standard Season- 26th May to 30th June and 1st August to 5th October 2012: £404
Please note that due to the annual Avignon Festival taking place in July, this package will be unavailable from 1st to 31st July 2012.
