The Budget Burgundy Break
Introduced in January 2009 in response to the effects of the Credit Crunch, our budget tours in Champagne have proved very popular. New in 2011 and available mid-week and weekends all year round, whilst the Budget Burgundy package doesn’t offer the incredible dining experiences, the fantastic personalities of the wine makers and the very wide range of wines that we taste on our Premium tours, they do include the opportunity to visit a traditional, family run winery together with a great wine tasting lunch or dinner.
Beaune
The Budget Beaune package includes:
- Two nights’ bed and breakfast in your preferred hotel in Beaune.
- A half day transported and guided tour in the Côte de Beaune or the Côte de Nuits. Côte de Beaune. Departing from central Beaune, your English speaking guide will accompany you on a 2.5 hour tour of the region in an air-conditioned off-road vehicle with a panoramic roof. During this tour, you will be introduced to the origin of the great Chardonnay wines from the famous vineyards of Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. In addition, the Pinot Noir grape from Pommard, Volnay and Santenay will be seen along the Côte de Beaune. Your guide will reveal to you the secrets of Burgundy wine whilst you enjoy a glass of wine in the heart of the vineyards. The tour will conclude with a visit to a nearby domaine, where the owner will take you on a full tour of the estate and explain his wines as you taste them.Côte de Nuits Departing from central Beaune, on this tour, you will discover the region where Pinot Noir reigns, driving through the famous vineyards of Nuits Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin. Your guide will reveal to you the secrets of Burgundy wine whilst you enjoy a glass of wine in the heart of the vineyards. The tour will conclude with a visit to a nearby Domaine, where the owner will take you on a full tour of the estate and explain his wines as you taste them.
- An early evening tasting session of three wines from good estates in the region in a traditional Burgundian bar. Your knowledgeable host will talk you through tastings of three varied Burgundy wines and the wine will be accompanied by a selection of cheeses and meats.
- A three course lunch or dinner in a city centre restaurant, accompanied by three local wines.
- Return Folkestone to Calais Eurotunnel crossings for a car and two passengers.
