The Basic Bordeaux Wine Tasting Tour

Whilst this package doesn't offer the incredible dining experiences and the extremely wide range of wines that can be tasted on our premium Bordeaux tours, it does offer the opportunity to visit a prestigious Château in the Médoc, Graves or Sauternes together with a three course tasting lunch and tutored tasting session in a convivial bordelaise bar. In addition, because this tour is simpler to arrange, we are able to offer it not just at weekends, but on several weekdays as well, also catering for last minute demands.

In general, we will work with carefully selected partners for each of the tour elements. This will usually mean that the transported half day tour will have a central departure point (as opposed to our Premium tours where all guests are met at and returned to their hotels.)

If you wish to stay longer in your chosen region, we are happy to arrange additional nights and additional visits/tours as required.

The Grape Escapes Basic Bordeaux wine tasting tour includes:

• 2 nights accommodation in your preferred city centre hotel
• A half day transported and guided tour in your choice of Graves, Sauternes or Médoc (see below for further details)
• An early evening tutored tasting session of three wines from good estates in the region in a traditional bordelaise bar. Your charismatic and entertaining host will talk you through tastings of three Bordeaux wines from Médoc, St Emilion and Graves. Your wine will be accompanied by a s election of cheese and meats
• A three course lunch or dinner in a quality city centre restaurant, accompanied by three local wines

Half Day Tour Options:

Graves

Leaving Bordeaux at 9am or 2pm, your guide will accompany you on a tour of this subregion, which is famed for both reds and dry white wines. You will visit one of the most famous Classified Châteaux of the appellation for a tour and tastings of their wines.

Sauternes

Also departing from Bordeaux at 9am or 2pm, your guide will spend 4 hours introducing you to this region, which is celebrated for its sweet dessert wines. Here, you will enjoy a visit and tastings at a prestigious Classified growth Château, which also offers a stunning panoramic view of the vineyards.

Médoc

Leaving Bordeaux at 2pm every day except Monday, you will begin your tour of the Médoc by visiting an esteemed Classified growth Château. After following the route des C hâteaux to admire some of the region's most famous Châteaux, such as Margaux, Palmer and Beychevelle, you will experience a tasting session at a unique oenotouristic estate, situated in the heart of a 26 hectare park.
